All of these activities are looked down upon by the Staff and will not be permitted on this board. Due to the fact that we opened our doors to those talented writers we feel very strongly about the content posted on this board. While the game may get descriptively "violent" at times, we do our best to write with taste in our scenes as well.
Flaming
In other words, making a public/private dispute and verbally abusing/degrading another player via posts or PMs against his character and player. We do not condone this sort of action and anyone who is caught doing this will find themselves quickly banned from the board. If you have a dispute with another player, please quietly and calmly take it to a Moderator. If, for whatever reason, the situation is not or cannot be handled by a Moderator, please contact an Administrator so we can get the situation resolved.
Cursing
While some cursing is okay on the boards, please don't go as far as including anything that may be considered a racial slur. Many people will find this offensive. Also, please keep the cursing to a minimum. It does not need to be included in every post in every sentence on the board.
Excessive Violence
Yes. This can potentially be a dark and violent game. However, please try not to go overboard in describing every bit of guts and glory that happens. Our aim is to create a scenario- not a reason for someone to throw up!
Spam PMs
While advertising on the board is allowed, please do so in the appropriate areas. Further, please do not send out a bunch of PMs to everyone at Koro Region recruiting for your game- whether or not you have the intent of playing in this one. It is considered impolite and action will be taken against those who do such a thing (up to and including banning of IP addresses).
Anyone who receives one of these PMs is to forward it to staff immediately and we will deal with the person.
Metagaming
Metagaming is the act of taking out of character information and applying it to your in game decisions, usually to your character's benefit. For instance, reading a character's biography does not mean you automatically know everything about that person. If anything, you know nothing about that person until you meet and get to know them.
If you would like to have a prior acquaintance/friendship or otherwise with a person- let them know ahead of time so the two of you can work out the details. Better yet, head over to the Past Adventures forum and create your own plotline there!
Another scenario is if, for instance, we run a poll to see how people might enjoy it if we had an enemy invasion. It would be considered metagaming to start "beefing up" your character via combat tactics knowledge and otherwise in preparations for this story arc- when nothing has happened to lead your character to suspect an invasion at all!
Metagaming is heavily frowned upon and is not something that is taken lightly by the staff.
Munchkinism
Munchkinism is a bit of metagaming- gone extreme. Munchkinism is the act of portraying your character to be the "All Powerful Genie", so to speak. Your character is not the best at everything, nor is he/she able to foresee all either. For instance, it is not appropriate to post that you just happen to sneak up behind someone, stab them in the kidney and they bleed out all over the floor.
First, you are not allowed to control what happens to someone else's character. The decision is left up to the other player as to whether or not something happens. You may post what you attempt to do, but you may not post the results. In other words: Don't assume automatic success!
Further, it is not appropriate to post replies that contain thwarts to someone's actions either. For instance, a player posts that they are attempting to overhear your conversation. You may not, in response, post that you leave the room and have your conversation elsewhere when you didn't see that the other player was eavesdropping in the first place.
Munchkinism is heavily frowned upon and is not something that is taken lightly by the staff.
If you feel someone is metagaming or being a munchkin, please let a staff member know immediately and include the thread and situation that is occurring. We will evaluate the situation and decide a course of action immediately.
Actions and Consequences
Sometimes- people just can't help but get into a situation they shouldn't have gotten into in the first place... And sometimes, they're not on the good end of it either.
Let's say, for instance, a hot-headed, low ranked trainer decides he wants to go up against am elite Gym leader, or worse a high ranking criminal... Now, the Leader being quite the powerful trainer he/she is... is not stopped easily with weak or underdeveloped Pokemon. However, if this is what you want to do ICly- then you, as a player, must be willing to accept the IC consequences. Sometimes, this could mean humiliation because you were meddling in affairs you shouldn't have. Sometimes, this might result in your character's death (if you decided to stick around for a fight with the criminal, even though you knew you had no chance to begin with). Just because you're a player does not mean your character is infallible and will never die.
It's pretty much up to the way the story plot rolls and how events turn out. As in real life, you can't just walk up to your boss, mouth off to him/her and expect to still be employed the next day... or the next hour for that matter.
Character Relationships
Characters will eventually begin to build relationships... and just like real world relationships, some of them begin in a character's history- some of them develop later on. If you would like to begin play with an already established relationship, feel free to PM or post in the Past Adventures thread or start up a conversation in OOC chat! (If you really can't find anyone, get a hold of a staff member.)
Sometimes relationships break under certain circumstances. Don't be surprised if in character people get hurt and sad, etc. Not everything is always sunshine and rainbows! But, this should be an IC feeling only- not OOC. OOC we expect even mortal enemies to get along! This is what makes RP fun and not a chore. As a matter of fact, conflict makes RP just that much more entertaining when you have to overcome an obstacle, rather than skip happily through the clouds or something...
Character Conduct
Some characters are sweet and nice... and some characters are downright jackasses... and more still, some of them are two-timing assholes.
Just because one character happens to be an idiot, a jerk or a liar does NOT mean that the player is like that as well. It's just the way the character happens to be. As such, we expect everyone to treat one another with dignity and respect both in game and out of game as well.
Flaming or trolling on the boards out of character is not tolerated by any means and will immediately get you warned, if not banned altogether. (As previously stated.)
If you and another character in game get into a fight and your character wants to run around and tell the world that he's a jerk and everyone should avoid him- that's fine so long as it's in your character's personality to do just that and its done IC. Don't expect everyone to agree with you immediately, however. More importantly, do expect to get a visit and a verbal warning from an Admin at the very least if it starts to cause OOC problems.
In other words, use your discretion before running around calling people names and such. We are all adults here, hopefully, so let's try to keep it that way!
(these rules may be amended later to include other things)
